Effects of Biodanza on Stress, Depression and Sleep Quality

A Biodanza program is an effective stress management strategy for workforces. Biodanza is known to have a positive effect on perceived stress and depression and demonstrates how artistic, collaborative, and psychophysical interventions are an effective means of preventing and managing these problems in our daily lives and in our workplace.

Psychological benefits from completing a course in Biodanza over 10 week period are the reductions in stress and psychosomatic complaints, immunological benefits, and improved social abilities, 'especially the ability to enjoy all activities of social life'.

Participants were able to see improvements in all of the following areas:-

A Powerful Dance Experience in New England, USA

A Powerful Dance Experience in New England, USA

There are group of dancers in the USA who have been meeting regularly for over 40 years called “Dance New England” (DNE).

Land has been purchased by the ‘Friends of DNE’, and DNE get to use the facilities as and when required. DNE is a not for profit organisation, who’s aim is to provide services that uplift the communities for which they serve-providing a positive example for the world at large.

Carolina and I dived into these extraordinary people’s lives for 11 days.

It was a rare opportunity and privilege to have been able to experience the camp and assist Carolina. I personally have never experienced such a diverse community, in terms of age, race and abilities. I met many people who had special needs who were treated completely “normally” being fully accepted and supported by all of the community in ways that I found very moving. A generous listening was provided for all attending the camp. I felt the reverence they felt for not just each other but the Land too and it was heart opening and inspiring.

Hi my name is Will and I’m a Saxophone player. When Sue contacted me about accompanying a Biodanza workshop, I wasn’t sure what to expect! She described how, together with a percussionist, I would improvise around specific rhythms while participants reacted to these improvisations. I had not encountered Biodanza before, but I have plenty of experience improvising and I’m always happy to try something new and see what happens!

Contact and community

Contact and community

Unique friendships have continued to provide me with much needed connection, people that I have a bond with, whom I may not see for many months, sometimes even years, but when I do it is as if I never was away from them. I often say when I am teaching the weekly class, that we take each other home with us when we leave and this for me, is the truth.

It's never too late to start Dancing

It's never too late to start Dancing

It is now 11 years since I first stepped into the Dance arena, I was reminded of this today when my dear friend Monica Nataraj (someone who I  see seldomly but is ever present in my heart) sent me something that I am working with and that is finding some love and compassion for myself.  My life has been one of deep transformation.  Monica was the first person who helped me to see that Dance is an extraordinary part of life,  That life is a beautiful Dance, and those who dance live life differently ( not worse or better ) just differently.
